On 24.08.2021 there was a change in the obligation to mark equipment intended for placing on the UK market with the UKCA mark of conformity.
The deadline for this obligation has been extended by 12 months and still until 31.12.2022 equipment supplied to the UK market can only be marked with the CE mark of conformity.
This means that compared to the original information on our website, the following now applies to the supply of pressure equipment to the UK market:
1) The CE marking can continue to be used on the UK market for a transitional period until 31.12.2022.
This means that conformity assessment by EU notified bodies (e.g. TÜV NORD Czech 1221) is still possible for the UK market without any restrictions.
UKCA marking is also now possible.
However, this UKCA marking can only be applied after assessment/approval by an approved UK body.
2) From 01.01.2023 the CE marking will replace the UKCA marking. Conformity assessment/approval is then only possible with an approved UK body.
3) From 01.01.2021, UK products supplied to the EU market must have a conformity assessment carried out by an EU Notified Body.
UK bodies can no longer carry out conformity assessment of products supplied to the EU market from 01.01.2021 (exception: Northern Ireland).
The table below partly illustrates the above points:
Placing of goods to the UK market | Goods placed on the UK market until 31.12.2022 | Designation CE or UKCA |
Goods placed on the UK market from 01.01.2023 | Marking UKCA | |
Placing eligible Northern Ireland goods on the UK market (unrestricted access) | Northern Ireland eligible goods marketed in the UK under unrestricted access | Designation CE or CE and UKNI |
