Hazard and Operability study

A Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) study is a structured and systematic examination of a defined system using a multi-disciplined team in order to identify and evaluate problems that may represent risks/hazards to personnel or equipment, or prevent efficient operation.

• Analysis of situations that can be caused by the system and situations where the surroundings have an impact on the system
• The analysis of potential errors, e.g. control errors, development errors or errors caused by mechanical wear and tear (poor maintenance) and failure of electronic components.

• Risks identification during design / installation of a new plant or process or major modification to an existing one 
• Support in the forecasting of potential incidents, finding causes, assessing the impact and defining countermeasures
• Determination of appropriate remedial measures
• The process covers safety as well as operational aspects
