World Food Safety Day: Ensuring Safe Food for All!

On June 7, we celebrate World Food Safety Day, a global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO). This day serves as a reminder that food safety is everyone’s business, from farm to table. On this occasion, we acknowledge and recognize the critical role of food safety in safeguarding public health and well-being. TUV India, a trusted name in certification services, plays a pivotal role in ensuring safe food practices across the globe. Let’s dive into how TUV India contributes to food safety:

  • ISO 22000: All-round Food Safety Management
TUV India provides ISO 22000:2005 certification, covering the entire food chain from “farm to fork.” This standard promotes comprehensive product safety in the food manufacturing sector, ensuring that consumers receive both high-quality and safe food products.
  • FSSC 22000: Global Food Safety System
TUV India also offers certification based on the internationally effective Food Safety System Certification (FSSC 22000). This system, now in its 6th version, aligns with ISO 22000 standards and includes specific preventive programs for food safety.
  • HACCP and Other Standards
TUV India’s expertise extends beyond ISO 22000 and FSSC 22000. They also provide auditing and certification services based on other critical standards:
HACCP: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is integrated into ISO 22000, enhancing risk management in food companies.
FAMI-QS: For the animal feed industry.
BRCGS: British Retail Consortium Global Standards for food safety & food packaging.
  • Training and Awareness
TUV India conducts training programs across various food safety topics, which covers essential requirements and key changes across wide range of applicable standards and processes. Participants gain insights into these topics, thereby supporting initiatives towards enhancing food safety awareness within organizations.

How Can You Contribute?

  1. At Home: Handle food properly, cook thoroughly, and store it correctly. Wash hands before eating.
  2. In the Community: Support local food safety initiatives. Educate others about safe practices.
  3. In the Industry: Producers and processors must follow hygiene standards. Regular inspections are crucial.
