Service management
ISO 20000-1 is an international standard that contains requirements for the establishment and verification of a functioning service management system. The standard can be applied to the company's own departments providing services as well as to services provided to external customers, e.g. provision of ICT services, IT outsourcing.
Due to previous editions of ISO 20000-1, which made direct reference to IT service management, this standard is now becoming an obligatory quality management system for IT services. The current edition refers to service management and therefore the standard can be implemented by all service providers.
Who can apply for certification?
- business organisations wishing to provide services
- business organisations that require a consistent approach from all service providers in the supply chain
- organisations that want to demonstrate their ability to provide services that meet customer requirements
- organisations that strive for continuous service improvement through monitoring and service quality improvement processes
- organisations for which the IT department/IT services are a very important element of the business
Where the "quality" of operation of IT services and systems is of key importance to the operation of the organisation, it is worth applying the Service Management System according to ISO 20000-1. It is particularly recommended for organisations with highly developed IT systems and services.
IT is one of the most difficult areas to manage. On the one hand, in most organisations, it is an element indispensable for running business, on the other hand, it is a source of significant costs and, due to its "hermetic" nature, it is difficult to manage. The dynamics of changes, forced by the incredible pace of technological progress in IT and the necessity to meet growing business requirements, is a great challenge for today's IT manager.
Organizations that can prove that they manage the level of services provided will undoubtedly gain a competitive advantage. The SMS (Service Management Service) system is an opportunity to analyse the solutions used in terms of effectiveness, efficiency and profitability planning.
