What is a design documentation audit?
Design documentation audit is performed on the basis of the executive design provided, or to be provided in the course of its development, by the Client and/or the Functional and Utility Programme provided by the Client.
Design documentation audit involves, among other things: checking the completeness, compliance with the granted building permit, correctness of the adopted solutions and feasibility of the intended works. The results of the design documentation audit are presented in an audit report, which includes possible recommendations for changes to the design solutions, which may contribute to the avoidance of errors and irregularities at the execution stage.
The design documentation audit should preferably be carried out even before obtaining the building permit and, in the case of the Functional and Utility Programme, even before the contractor selection is announced.
In case of doubts during the verification of the design documentation, there is a possibility to verify the calculations made by the designer - using the sampling method, with regard to critical building elements.
There is also a possibility for the inspection team to participate in working meetings with the designer.
The findings of the report(s) shall be presented to the Investor and to the designer at a date agreed by the parties. The designer should address the remarks presented in the report. The audit of the project documentation ends as soon as the TN auditor accepts the explanations. Once the process has been successfully completed, a Certificate of Design Documentation in accordance with the BQC standard can be issued upon request.
