SQF Code
The “SQF Codes” are site-specific process and product certification standards applicable for various food industry sectors, from primary production to transport and distribution.
The main feature of the SQF Codes is their emphasis on the systematic application of a Food Safety Plan (e.g., HACCP) to control food safety hazards that may affect the final product. The implementation of SQF as a company’s Food Safety Management System facilitates the production of safe, legal products that meet customers’ requirements. Thus, providing the solution for businesses to supply local and global food markets with the utmost confidence.
The Safe Quality Food Institute (SQFI), a division of FMI, assures that all parties concerned have a common platform: “SQF Assessment Database” is where a buyer can quickly locate a certified supplier or view the status of a current or a potential supplier.
The SQF Assessment Database is for all to use.
Certification to the SQF Codes supports industry or company-branded product and offer benefits to certified sites and their customers.
Audit Scopes
SQFI recognizes that food safety practices differ from facility to facility, depending on the food safety risks of the product and process. Therefore, SQFI has designed the “Codes” to meet the individual requirements of each industry sector. Several different food sector categories are listed in each code separately.
