Upstream Emission Reductions (UER)
What is Upstream Emission Reduction (UER)?
UER involves reducing greenhouse gas emissions within the fuel supply chain, a critical aspect of climate legislation compliance. We ensure your projects meet EU standards by providing thorough validation and verification.
-
As part of the EU climate and energy legislation and Fuel Quality Directive (FQD)1, fuel suppliers are obliged to reduce the greenhouse gas intensity of the fuel and energy they supply compared to a fuel baseline standard of 2010.
The reduction obligation can also be met through so-called upstream emission reductions (UER) up to 1.2%. Upstream Emission Reduction (UER) Validation and Verification Projects can obtain the same.
According to ISO 14064-2, a UER project must undergo validation by a Validation and Verification body. TÜV NORD CERT GmbH is an accredited Validation and Verification body for UER projects.
TUV USA Inc. is authorized by TÜV NORD CERT GmbH to acquire the Upstream Emission Reduction (UER) Validation and Verification Projects. TUV USA Inc. and TÜV NORD CERT GmbH both are part of TUV NORD Group.
